About Us

2012 – UNIT OF INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS

Established in July 2012 under the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic and International Office) to manage international matters.

2013 – UMK INTERNATIONAL OFFICE (UMK-IO)

Upgraded to UMK-IO due to increasing responsibilities and a growing international student population from over 20 countries.

2019 – CENTRE OF INTERNATIONAL AND MARKETING (CIM)

Rebranded as CIM to reflect broader roles in internationalisation and marketing.

NOV 2019 – PRESENT: UMK INTERNATIONAL

Officially renamed on 19 November 2019, aligning with national practices and strengthening its global presence. UMK International focuses on student recruitment, global partnerships, and mobility programs to enhance UMK’s international visibility and institutionalise internationalisation.

Objectives


1. Ensure that 70% of the targeted number of the international students in UMK is achieved

2. Ensure that 80% of the targeted number of international student recruitment agents at UMK is achieved

3. Ensure that 80% of student and dependent's pass are certified within 7 working days from the date receiving the student's passport

4. Ensure that mobility program data (credit/non-credit) is updated and reported to stakeholders quarterly
